Zone Compatibility

Your climate plays an important role in whether a pistachio tree will produce nuts or even survive. Pistachio trees prefer warmer climates. Most varieties grow well from zone 7 to 10. Before ordering, be sure a particular variety’s recommended hardiness zone range includes your area.

Mature Tree Size

Pistachios grow very slowly to about 20-30 feet and are drought tolerant once established. Most pistachio cultivars are hardy down to approx. 10º F and require about 800 chill hours. A pollinating partner is required for pistachio trees to set fruit.
