Super Hass Avocado Tree
Description
The best avocado for guacamole!
The Super Hass Avocado fruit is larger than the regular Hass and has a longer shelf life. Known for its classic buttery-nut flavor, this variety is loved throughout the world. The fruit, when ripened, is purple in color with small bumps on the skin.
Avocado trees are dense, evergreen trees that grow fast in tropical climates. These trees are remarkable in their ability to thrive under a broad range of environmental conditions. Avocado trees prefer mild temperatures, good draining soil, humidity, and 6 hours of sun. The Super Hass is a more frost-sensitive variety.
When planted in the ground, the Super Hass Avocado Tree can reach a mature size of about 25 feet tall and can be kept even smaller by pruning. When growing in a container, make sure the soil completely dries out before watering again deeply. These trees have shallow roots, so be sure to choose a container that is just as wide as it is tall. Good drainage is key.
Avocado trees are self-pollinating and you’ll get a nice harvest with just one tree. They don’t require another variety in order to produce fruit. However, having a Type A and Type B avocado tree increases the chance of successful pollination and fruit set. Super Hass is a type A, with avocados ripening from September through October.
