Description
An exceptionally sweet variety, the Sugar Cane Jujube produces an abundance of medium-sized fruits. Often called “Chinese Date”, the fruit is very sweet, resembling an apple, and measures 1-1/2” long with a single seed.
Jujubes are a beautiful ornamental as well as fruiting plant. Jujubes are a unique tree, displaying shiny foliage, interesting bark, and abundant, fragrant, white flowers that bloom in mid-summer. The Sugarcane jujube tree has smaller thorns making it a good selection for home.
Sugar Can Jujube trees are drought resistant, as well as pests and disease resistant. This plant needs summer heat for the fruit to ripen and is a good choice for desert areas.
