About Inchelium Red Certified Organic Garlic

Inchelium Red Softneck Garlic, hailing from the Colville Indian Reservation in Inchelium, Washington, is a distinguished garlic variety known for its robust flavor and medium pungency. This large, beautiful cultivar has been recognized as the “Very Best of the Softnecks” and won a national taste test of 20 garlic strains. Its mild, lasting flavor, complemented by a hint of heat, makes it an excellent choice for a wide range of culinary applications.

The bulbs are substantial, often measuring over 3 inches in diameter, and produce 8-20 cloves. These dense cloves store exceptionally well and can even develop a stronger flavor over time. As a softneck variety, Inchelium Red is ideal for braiding, adding a charming and practical element to your garden.

How to Grow Inchelium Red Certified Organic Garlic

Inchelium Red Garlic thrives in full sun and well-drained, loose, organic soil. For optimal growth, plant the cloves at a depth of 1-2 inches, with a spacing of 4-6 inches apart. This variety matures in approximately 240 days when planted in the fall, providing a bountiful harvest by early summer. The large bulbs, with white and purple-blotched outer layers, contain 8-20 creamy cloves each.

This organically grown heirloom garlic variety is not only a culinary delight but also an excellent source of vitamins and minerals. Its versatility in the kitchen is unmatched, suitable for raw and cooked applications. Crush, chop, press, or puree the garlic to release its sharp, assertive flavor, or roast it to bring out its natural sweetness.

Our garlic is USDA certified organic, ensuring it’s grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers. This commitment to organic farming supports healthier, sustainable crops and enhances soil health, providing you with top-quality produce for your garden and kitchen.

A half-pound set of garlic contains approximately 3-4 bulbs. Each bulb contains several cloves for planting. The actual quantity may vary depending on bulb size.
