Time-honored, dark-green summer squash. Delicious sautéed, fried or baked, or in soups, salads and casseroles. Flowers can be stuffed and deep-fried, a classic French delicacy. Its versatility is hard to beat. Best picked young, at 5-6”. The more you pick, the more you get! Fast-growing plants require a lot of real estate, but the returns are exceptional: one plant can produce up to 10 pounds of squash. A must for any kitchen garden.
