First Editions® Standing Ovation™ Serviceberry Tree
Description
About The First Editions Standing Ovation Serviceberry Plant
The ideal landscape accent piece wildlife will love!
Standing Ovation Serviceberry is primarily grown for its highly ornamental fruit. It is a multi-stemmed deciduous shrub with a narrow upright growth habit that also qualifies as a small tree. In early Spring, branches are covered with showy white flowers. Edible fruits ripen in June and the green foliage changes to a stunning red and orange come Fall.
Serviceberry trees are stunning ornamentals that can serve as an accent to permaculture gardens. Pollinators and birds appreciate the blooms and fruits these small trees provide. Gardeners love the fruit too! Serviceberry fruit is delicious straight from the tree and can be used any way you’d use blueberries.
Growing The Standing Ovation Serviceberry Plant
Standing Ovation Serviceberry is a selection of a native North American species. It is cold hardy and adapts to a variety of soil types. This shrub does best in full sun to partial shade. This serviceberry is self-pollinating and does not require another variety to set fruit. Because of their beauty and low maintenance needs, serviceberry trees make excellent street trees, even in urban settings.
