Washington Hawthorn Tree
Description
The Washington Hawthorn is a colorful, compact tree, that will brighten any landscape. In early spring, this tree exhibits reddish purple leaves that turn a dark green. Their white flower clusters bloom in late spring to early summer and produces bright red berries which is eaten by birds and other wildlife throughout the winter. The extended colorful display, moves into Autumn as this tree develops vibrant fall colors of orange, scarlet and more purple hues. Some homeowners take advantage of their dense foliage and thorns by using these as privacy screens and security hedges.
