Fertilizing Currant Plants
To keep your currant bushes healthy and productive, follow these steps:
- Mulch around plants every year with 2 to 3 inches of suitable material like composted manure, wood chips, or grass clippings. This will help control weeds, retain moisture, and keep the soil cool.
- Every spring, apply organic fertilizer on top of the soil surface to keep the nutrients balanced.
- Be sure to keep the bushes well-watered, especially when they are young and still getting established.
