Elan Strawberry Plant
Description
About the Elan Strawberry – Certified Organic
The Elan Strawberry is a certified organic, everbearing variety celebrated for its intensely sweet, juicy berries and vigorous growth. Producing medium-sized, bright red fruit with a biconical shape, this versatile plant offers a steady harvest from midsummer through frost, perfect for gardens, containers, or fresh markets. Its berries are ideal for fresh eating, garnishes, or preserves, and even its edible flowers add a mild, strawberry-like flavor to salads and desserts.
How to Grow the Elan Strawberry
This day-neutral variety thrives in USDA Zones 5–8, providing organic strawberries consistently throughout the growing season, regardless of daylight hours. Plant in full sun with well-drained, nutrient-rich soil, spacing plants 12–18 inches apart. Mulch to conserve moisture, keep fruit clean, and suppress weeds. For robust yields, remove flower buds for the first six weeks after planting and trim runners to focus energy on fruiting.
Water consistently, especially during early summer and fall, and apply a light mulch in winter to protect crowns in colder climates. Regularly harvest fully red fruit to encourage continuous production. These organic berries can be enjoyed fresh, frozen, or preserved, offering delicious flavor year-round.
