The Apple Babe is a genetic dwarf that only reaches about 8-10 ft. In height. Developed by Floyd Zaiger, The Apple Babe Genetic Dwarf is a spur-bearing, compact tree for fruit growers in small spaces. It makes a lovely landscape accent and does well in a container.
This dwarf tree bears fruit fast, typically in the first couple of years after planting. In August, Apple Babe bears large crops of full-sized, crisp, sweet apples. The skin is a glossy red, russet-free.
How to Grow Apple Babe Apples
These high-quality apples grow well, even in hot climates. It is also cold hardy down to minus 30° F when planted in the ground. This dwarf apple tree is also resistant to apple scab.
Apple Babe blooms over a long period of time in mid-to-late Spring. Plant with a pollinator nearby, and ensure your tree gets at least 700 chill hours for a successful harvest year after year.
