About the Galaxy Peach Tree

The Galaxy Peach Tree, also known as flat peach, donut peach, bagel peach, and UFO peach, is a visual delight, bearing large and unique fruit that adorns its branches like otherworldly ornaments.

Gracing your garden with pinkish-white blossoms, this variety adds elegance to your landscape. Similar to the Stark® Saturn peach, the Galaxy Peach ripens in late July, offering an early-season delight for peach enthusiasts. These large, semi-freestone peaches feature soft, blushed-red skin enveloping a smooth, firm white flesh. Known for their sweet, low-acid flavor, the clear-white, firm, and melting flesh is a testament to the meticulous breeding that went into creating this extraordinary variety.

Originating from Parlier, California, this vigorous tree was introduced in 2003 and has since become a favorite among peach enthusiasts. Galaxy was selected in 1997 for its unique shape, large fruit size, good productivity, sweet, low-acid flesh, and attractive appearance.

How to Grow a Galaxy Peach Tree

Tree arrived in excellent shape in the fall, planted tree, seems to be alive and doing well so far. Looking forward to spring when it starts budding. Nothing to dislike about this purchase.

A Great Beginner's Peach!
I live in Arizona (9B) and bought this tree a few years ago, planting it near my patio. Since it was a sapling, it has produced fruit, albeit a few peaches at a time. This year, however, produced a veritable bumper crop of peaches that went into smoothies, fritters, and fresh eating. Considering what this variety of peach costs in the grocery store, to have such a bounty to eat and share was a huge bonus indeed.

In terms of care, it's pretty low maintenance. During hot spells, I'd water it once or twice a week. It takes the 110+ degree heat like a champ! I have not used fertilizer on it, though I poured some spent potting soil at the base as well as ample mulch, which seems to work well. I don't usually bother with thinning out the blossoms, as not all of them come to fruition or harvest, nor do I do much in the way of pruning, though due to its location next to the patio, branches do get cut back to make way for people passing. It has a rather wide canopy, so be mindful of that when choosing a location to plant it.

Overall, I'm very happy with this tree. I highly recommend it to any prospective home fruit growers looking to add a unique and durable fruit tree to their collection.

Tremendous Galaxy Peach Tree! Zone 9a
I planted this Galaxy peach tree over 5 years ago. Planted it too close to our house and top it off each year. This year we got roughly 300 peaches from it, even though I thinned roughly 100 in the spring and keep it smaller!

I highly recommend this peach tree as it is low maintenance. I have drip running to it as we are in a drought most of the year. Using a thick native mulch helps. I use Epsoma Tree-Tone fertilizer twice a year, (1st around Jan and 2nd in late Apr). I choose to cut the top back substantially each summer as I made a rookie mistake in planting it too close to our house. If I did not, I would not even do that.

A major game changer this year was using a net that covered the entire tree to keep pests away. I was able to harvest all but 3 peaches (over ripe and covered with ants)!!! Total game changer...

Way too many peaches! I did not know these Galaxy peaches are white peaches and do not have enough acidity (or are not recommended) for canning. Meaning they go bad in 3-5 days. My freezer and refigerator are filled, husband took some to work and I took an entire medium sized Amazon box full to our kids summer camp. Now that everyone we shared the peaches with are hooked on these too. Lol!

Wonderful tree, just be sure you have helpers for picking when it is mature, a spot away from any foundations, and plenty of willing eaters to help enjoy them. Thank you Starkbros!

Dwarf Galaxy Peach
I'm in zone 9. I bought this tree less than a year ago. Planted it in the ground right away and it's just had so much growth since then. It even has a couple of peaches already. Bought a different peach variety that I kept in a pot, and it didn't grow as well as this one. Extremely happy!

Delicious sub-acid peach
Vigorous tree that needs a bit of summer pruning like most peaches. It's plenty hardy here in southwest Iowa Zone 5, but it flowers a little early for our area. Because of that we don't get many of these peaches, but when we do they are a nice treat. It's a very sweet sub-acid peach, the flesh is firm but melting. Not mushy when ripe. Skin is much darker red than I expected, and it doesn't have too much fuzz. If you are in zone 5 and have the space this delicious fruit is worth it. If you don't have much space then try later blooming varieties.
