Flavor Queen Pluot® Tree
Description
The Pluot is “Interspecific”, meaning it is a complex hybrid of 70 percent plum, 30 percent apricot with decidedly more plum-like traits. Also called a plumcot, the fruit of a Pluot is smooth-skinned like a plum, sturdy and durable with luscious flavor. It has the juiciness of a fully ripe plum without the notoriously tough skin and tart center that is typical of a plum.
The Flavor Queen Pluot® is a new and distinct variety, characterized by its large size, vigorous, semi-spreading growth and is a productive and regular bearer of firm, yellow flesh, clingstone fruit. A great source of vitamin A!
Flavor Queen fruit tends to stay firm on the tree for 12 to 15 days after maturity, having excellent eating and storage quality.
Pollinate with Santa Rosa, Methley, or other early blooming Japanese plum. The Flavor Queen Pluot® blooms early mid-season and ripens in late July-August. Estimated required chill hours are between 400-650.
