Guava is a densely growing shrubby tree that has the tendency to spread horizontally along the ground.

Prune your guava tree in early spring to early summer every year to your desired shape and to control its size.
Pruning to a tree shape requires selecting a main trunk and removing all but 3 to 4 main branches. Remove suckers and any dead or diseased growth throughout the year.
